When your scalp becomes visible, even though you still have hair...
Diffuse hair loss, a widening part, or a visible scalp—hair loss in women is not an isolated phenomenon.
The most common form is so-called female pattern hair loss. Unlike in men, this typically does not result in bald patches, but rather in a gradual thinning of the hair in the crown area.
Many affected women first notice that:
-
their part is widening,
-
their ponytail is becoming thinner,
-
their hair is visibly losing density.
Without treatment, this process can slowly progress.
How SMP Can Help Women with Hair Loss
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is an aesthetic pigmentation of the scalp. It involves the placement of ultra-fine pigment dots that visually increase hair density.
For women, this means:
-
the hair parting appears denser,
-
the scalp is less visible,
-
the hair looks fuller overall,
-
no surgical intervention is required.
SMP does not replace hair—it alters perception and creates a more harmonious overall appearance.
MY APPROACH.
Hair loss in women requires a particularly sensitive approach.
I work:
-
with natural density gradients,
-
without harsh transitions,
-
customized to suit your specific hair color and skin tone,
-
with a focus on a soft, subtle look.
The goal is not a "shaved effect," but rather a visual thickening that looks natural in everyday life.
Furthermore, I am proud to be part of #TeamScalpStudioSweden and to bring this expert knowledge to Potsdam.
Who SMP Is Suitable For
-
Diffuse thinning (Ludwig Types I–III)
-
Visible part
-
Reduced hair density on the crown
-
Following hormonally induced hair loss
Honesty is part of my work.
Not every form of hair loss is suitable for pigmentation. In some cases, a medical evaluation is advisable first, as an accurate assessment always takes precedence.
THE LUDWIG SCALE
Understanding Hair Loss in Women
To assess female hair loss, specialists frequently utilize the Ludwig Scale. It describes the extent of thinning across three distinct stages.
Using this scale, you can easily assess for yourself which stage you currently fall into.
I use this classification system as a guide for pricing, as both the effort required and the duration of treatment vary depending on the specific type of hair loss.
This allows you to realistically anticipate—even before your consultation—what to expect in terms of both cost and treatment procedure.

TYP I
Slight thinning in the crown area. The scalp is slightly visible, while the hairline generally remains intact.

TYP II
Significant hair loss on the crown. The part visibly widens, and density clearly decreases.

TYP III
Severe thinning throughout the entire crown area. The scalp is clearly visible.
IMPORTANT: Not all hair loss is the same.
Hair loss can have many causes, for example:
-
hormonal changes,
-
genetic predisposition,
-
stress or medical conditions,
-
nutrient deficiencies,
-
hormonal shifts (e.g., after pregnancy).
Therefore, an honest assessment is crucial. Not every form of hair loss is immediately suitable for an aesthetic solution.
Background Information on Hereditary Hair Loss
It is caused by a genetic sensitivity of the hair follicles to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT)—a metabolic byproduct of testosterone.
DHT shortens the hair growth cycle, causing the hair to become progressively finer, thinner, and shorter over time, until the follicles eventually cease producing new hair altogether.
In Men:
The progression typically begins with a receding hairline (temples) or a bald spot at the crown. As it advances, these areas may merge until complete baldness develops across the top of the head—a pattern typically classified using the Norwood Scale.
In Women:
Women, too, can suffer from hereditary hair loss; however, it manifests differently:
Instead of clearly defined bald patches, the hair thins diffusely—particularly along the part and across the top of the head—while the hairline typically remains intact.
This pattern is classified according to the Ludwig Scale and affects many women, particularly following hormonal changes (e.g., pregnancy, menopause, or use of oral contraceptives).
Treatment Options:
While medications often yield only limited results, scalp micropigmentation (SMP) performed at my specialized studio in Potsdam can visually restore the appearance of denser hair.
Fine pigment dots are deposited into the scalp to create the illusion of thicker hair—a gentle, effective, and natural solution that requires absolutely no surgery.
Your Path to Fuller-Looking Hair:
Step 1:
Personalized Consultation
In a personal consultation, we will clarify your wishes, analyze your hair and skin type, and discuss the available options. You will receive an honest assessment regarding the expected results, the treatment process, and the costs.
Step 2:
The Pigmentation
I select a pigment shade that perfectly matches your hair color. The tone is individually tailored to you, ensuring that the final result looks very natural. Using a specialized technique, tiny pigment dots are then precisely applied to the affected areas. The treatment is carried out over several sessions, as the skin has a limited capacity to absorb pigment and the result is built up gradually.
Step 3:
Healing & Aftercare
After each session, the skin requires a few days to heal. Slight redness may occur. You will receive detailed aftercare instructions for the post-treatment period. Over the course of 1–2 follow-up appointments, we will perfect the density, color intensity, and transitions—to achieve the most natural-looking result possible.
